Hi Everyone!
Two products were sent to me by Simply Soaps for review, and after testing them out for two weeks I have some thoughts. As you know, my reviews can be a bit long as I want to give you as much information as possible so I've split it into two parts - this is part one, the facial serum.
A little bit about the brand - Simply Soaps is a UK brand that specializes in 100% organic and natural products. Their products do not contain any of the following (many of which are common in soap products)
They also have a focus on the environment, and say that their buildings and manufacturing process are powered by solar panels. Their ingredients come from organic agriculture, and if possible, local suppliers. All in all, if organic, natural, ethically sourced products are what you're looking for this company is for you. If you want to read more about their ethics click here. If you are a regular reader you know that I'm not adverse to synthetic ingredients and don't actively search out brands that boast wholly organic processes, but I'm always happy to try something now, and honestly I really enjoyed these products.
Rosa Passionata Facial Serum, £11.95
This was definitely my favourite of the two. Rather than a serum, I see it more as being a facial oil - and a very good one at that. It comes packaged in a little glass bottle with a screw-on lid and interior dropper that you can remove - I did as I like to use more than the dropper allowed without shaking it around. It's a surprisingly fine oil, and feels surprising luxe on the skin. It smells gorgeous - it's a really natural rose scent that is strong but not overwhelming or unpleasant. If you like the smell of roses or rose oil you will love this. Personally I love it - I dislike synthetic rose scents, they give me a headache. The ingredients list is short - passiflora edulis (passionfruit), passiflora incarnata (purple passionflower), and rose centifolia. The latter is an antioxidant and is a great source of fatty acids for the skin. Passiflora Edulis, or Maracuja oils, are rich in Vitamin C and fatty acids. Research doesn't as of yet indicate that the levels of Vit C are enough to benefit the skin but these oils are certainly rich in antioxidants and possess skin-soothing properties*

As with most facial oils you can use this a couple of ways - directly onto the skin at the end of your evening skincare routine to lock everything in and provide extra moisture and soothing, mixed in with your favourite moisture, or in one of my favourite ways to use an oil in the warmer months - a couple of drops mixed in with your foundation to sheer it out and add a glow. I've used this oil in all of these ways and my favourite is at night at the end of my skincare routine. Like most oils it doesn't sink into the skin immediately and you will still feel it on your face as you go to sleep - as you know if you read the blog, this doesn't bother me. It's a really lovely product, and I always wake up with soothed, moisturised skin. For the price you get 30ml and it will last you ages, it's very spreadable and you don't need much.
It isn't a highly sophisticated product containing retinol or other active ingredients - but not every product you use needs to be. The natural oils in this product soothe, moisturise and provide extra antioxidants that will aid in protecting your skin from the environment.
If you're in the market for an all organic, ethically sourced, natural and environmentally friendly product I can't recommend this enough. I'm a bit of a skincare snob, but I was surprised by the quality of this oil and how much I enjoy using it - and for the price you can't go wrong, it costs a fraction of many oils on the market.
If you are interested in this oil or any of the other products Simply Soap offer, their website is here at Simply Soaps - they offer prices both in GDP and Euro.
Are you someone who actively searches out ethical and organic skincare? Will you be trying this?
Thanks for reading as always
