If you watch my Instagram stories you know that I originally ordered Coral Crush after I had seen Caroline Hirons say how much she loved it on her stories. After having Coral Crush for a few weeks I picked up another I-glow in Sirocco, the brush that is designed for use with them and a cream eyeshadow. In this post I'll review the two I-glows.
On the New CID Cosmetics website the I-glows are described as 'an innovative and luxurious formula of baked pigments...to bring a radiance to the skin for a lit from within look'
Coral Crush
Described as a 'luminous peachy coral blush with soft gold sparkle suitable for all skin types'.
This is a really stunning product, both visually and on the skin. It comes housed in a sturdy white compact with an inside mirror. Although the compact is really pretty and chic, white probably isn't the best colour for it - mine is already covered in fingerprints...! Not a huge issue, but I'm a bit of a neat freak when it comes to my products.
While there is definitely coral in the colour, the over-riding colour is pink - it is quite a universally flattering colour. On my fair with a hint of sallow skin, it's perfect. If you have olive skin this is going to be stunning on you! It's gorgeous to look at with it's baked texture and seams of gold that run through the powder.
There is some serious colour pay-off here, so I recommend going easy - tapping off your brush and building the colour up. I've been using it with the blush brush that comes from the same brand to apply it to the apples of my cheeks or with my over-sized Tom Ford Powder brush to really buff it over my face and up my temples for a diffused, luminous skin glow.
While it is a blush, I would call this a 2-in-1 product as for me it also performs as a beautiful highlighter - which is exactly what you need if like me you have limited time to get ready in the mornings. When you carry it up over the cheekbones and temples you get a stunning glow, it really is 'lit from within' as they describe. While I'm not usually a fan of baked products as I find that they can often have a lot of kick-up and little pigment, this is a joy to apply if you take your time - you can literally see your skin coming to life. There is some kick-up but honestly it doesn't even bother me because the product itself is so gorgeous.
If you are looking for a pinky coral luminous blush you pretty much can't go wrong with this one, at least in my opinion. I think this might be a life-long favourite...!
Sirocco
Sirocco joined the family a few weeks later and is equally as loved as Coral Crush.
This comes in the same white compact but is a 'multi-tasking highlighting powder with soft golden pigments for all skin tones'.
I sucked my breath in the first time I opened it as I knew it was exactly the highlighter I had been looking for - shimmery yet not sparkly, and closer to a 'golden skin' colour than just gold if that makes sense. Many of my gold highlighters are sightly too yellow and unless I'm tanned they aren't very flattering. While I do love strong gold highlighters I've been on the hunt for something that had more of a natural base colour - I'm not one for all of these purple and bright pink highlighters you see around. There is again quite a bit of kick-up with this one, but again I can get over it as it's just so gorgeous. It gives such a beautiful, almost wet-looking finish to the skin and it doesn't enhance any texture I have. I have been loving this lately - it's so beautiful on the high points of the face and gives you an instant look of good health and luminosity. The one thing I would say is that it's not very flattering on my nose - it's too glowy, but on the tops of the cheekbones, temples, used over blush, or on the inner corner of the eyes it's perfection. You can also use it as an eyeshadow for a bright, awake natural day time look. I feel like even if I don't have time to do more than concealer and brows I can dust a bit of Sirocco over my face and look awake and healthy. If you're someone who likes natural glowing skin you will adore this.
I honestly, truly am SO glad I got these two! I'm not mad for blushes, I find having a couple in my collection is enough, but this one has been what I've been reaching for since I got it. Even on tired Monday morning skin it imparts a gorgeous healthy glow and makes me look, if not feel, alive and well. Sirocco is just gorgeous and I've been wearing it almost every day for that lit from within look, I like it even better than I like Becca Moonstone (and I love Moonstone). I bought Coral Crush for my best friend and she's obsessed and wants Sirocco, and after trying it a couple of times my Mum also wants Coral Crush.
As for the brush, it's quite beautiful and works gorgeously with these powders. It is synthetic, has a nice weight and is lovely to look at. While you don't 100% need the brush, it does apply the powders beautifully.
As mentioned above these beauties can be found on FeelUnique for £27.50 or €35. The Blush Brush retails for €36.50. The powders are not cheap, but trust me they are worth it and when mine are gone I'm pretty sure I'll be repurchasing. You can also find these products on the New CID Cosmetics site.
