Hi Everyone!
Let's talk cleansing cloths. In my book, cleansing cloths and flannels are a must-have. I know that a lot of people prefer to splash off their cleansers, I have tried this but for me cleansing revolves around a flannel, AM and PM. Aswell as ensuring that your skin is free of residual cleanser before you start into your routine, you can use your flannel to give your skin a light exfoliation - I would recommend using cotton for this, to be as gentle to your skin as possible
These were kindly sent to me for review by CloudCloth®, and I've been using them for the last few weeks so I feel like I'm ready to give you my thoughts.
Let me first give you some information about the company.
CloudCloth® is based in the UK and was set up in 2017, in Manchester. Their ethos revolves around encouraging people to switch to reuseable and recyclable cleansing tools.
From the site
'As a Brand, we want to give something back. We are supportive of our community of customers and collaborators, encouraging and helping them to achieve their goals. We are supportive of UK business, and champion our UK-based Manufacturers. And we actively support the replacement of disposables by reusables in beauty. It is our aim, in our own small way, to help make the world a little better.'

On their product
'One side of the CloudCloth® is super soft like cotton wool,
perfect for removing make-up, masks and other skincare products.
Suitable for sensitive skin, comforting and soothing. The other side of
the CloudCloth® buffs skin offering enhanced exfoliation. Skin feels
refreshed, revived and more than just clean. Exfoliate gently twice a
week.'
CloudCloth® comes packaged in a recyclable, translucent packaging and inside you will find 3 cleansing cloths for the very reasonable price of £10. They are soft to the touch, one side is smooth and the other slightly stiffer. They are thicker and softer to the touch than muslin cloths (which I'm not really a fan of - I find them both harsh and annoyingly flimsy). They are a good size, here is one measured against a standard keyboard
On a daily basis for cleansing I use regular flannels, but I've been using these a couple of times a week when I do my masks and treatments. I take a 'good' cleanser - something with salicylic acid, for example - and use the soft side to buff it into my skin. Once rinsed, I'll take an oil or balm and gently buff my skin with the exfoliating side. I'll then use the softer side to remove my masks. It's a great method of physical exfoliation for someone like me who gets red and irritated by most scrubs - it's gentle and effective, leaving the skin smooth and soft without irritating it. It also gives you a smooth, exfoliated base on which to apply your masks for better efficacy. I gave one to a friend who has combo skin and she prefers this method of exfloliating much better than the scrubs she normally uses to get rid of dead skin.
While they won't replace my every day flannels which are probably better for daily removal of make-up (and if you follow my Instagram you know I do tend to wear a fair amount of make-up...!) I think of these as 'treatment cloths'. I use them 2 x 3 times a week, on the nights that I want to treat my skin to a little something extra - I cleanse and exfoliate using a CloudCloth® and use it to remove my mask. They leave my skin with the same smooth feeling I get from a scrub, but without the dreaded redness and irritation. They are easy to wash, I put them in the machine and they don't end up misshapen or rough if you don't wash them on too hot a temperature.
It's a thumbs-up from me on CloudCloths® - they're a lovely addition to my cleansing and masking routine and I've been using them consistently for the last few weeks. If you're someone who is interested in sustainable beauty, small independant businesses and a gentle exfoliation these could be for you. Unfortunately they don't ship outside of the UK for the moment as they are a small and growing business, but if and when that changes I will let you know. They would make a lovely little stocking stuffer for the skincare addict in your life come Christmas, or even a little treat for yourself that won't break the bank, especially as they offer free delivery in the UK. If you are in or around the West of Ireland you can now find CloudCloths in FrontPage Hairdressing Westport (my Dad's salon, he's trying out CloudCloths on his retail stand - if that's not a glowing recommendation I don't know what is, and no I don't receive any profits from sales) or if you are in the UK their website is here
Thanks for reading, as always 💚
