Kinvara Absolute Cleansing Face Oil

It's been a while since I've tried a new cleansing oil, so I was excited when a friend sent this to me for my birthday. A little about the brand - Kinvara is Irish, Galway-based and was founded by Dr. Joanne Reilly. Obvs I wanted to find out what kind of doctor she is - her LinkedIn Profile says she has a PhD in Zoology and Elephant Ecology, which wasn't what I was expecting.

Anyhow, in 2010 Dr Reilly founded Kinvara skincare and although I've only recently been made aware of the brand through social media, the reviews are glowing and I'm really enjoying this cleanser.

Size - 100ml (my only gripe about the product is that I wish it was bigger😂)

Packaging - Sturdy plastic. Pump that turns to lock and works faultlessly. Good for travel, IMO.

Smell - Essential oils, citrus, gorgeous.

Ingredients - Helianthus Annus (Sunflower)* Seed Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame)* Seed Oil, Citrulius Vulgaris (Watermelon) Seed Oil, Carthamum Tinctorius (Safflower)* Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Cedrus Atlantica Bark (Cedarwood) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, (Limonene in essential oils).
*certified organic ingredients

Claims - 'To restore balance and cleanse your skin gently, effectively without stripping. It removes makeup, even stubborn mascara effortlessly. Daily use will leave you feeling fresh-faced, fabulous and a step closer to great skin'

Price - €22.95

Whos's it for?  According to the Kinvara website  'Recommended for all skin types including oily, sensitive & dry skin'. It then goes on to say that it is dermatologically tested, contains sesame and that they recommend patch testing - I concur, some people have issues with plant oils or are allergic to sesame (I literally had no idea that was a thing before writing this post - you learn something every day!). But aside from that, I do think that anyone from oily to combo to dry would like this.

It's a beautiful silky oil and a real treat to use. The website recommends using it on damp skin but as usual I just apply it directly to my face, no wetting beforehand. The most surprising thing about this oil is it's ability to remove a full face of makeup flawlessly. Not a single trace of mascara, liner - totally clean after one application. Generally I use it as a second cleanse, and again it does a fabulous job of ensuring my face is totally cleansed while also feeling utterly luxe on the skin. It doesn't irritate my eyes, but they do get a little 'filmy' for a minute or so after I use it but no stinging - as usual, if you have sensitive eyes beware. It feels beautifully nourishing on the skin and after use my skin is happy, soft and clean.

This review is short and sweet because, in a nutshell, I have nothing negative to say about it.

This is for you if -

*You are dry-skinned and want something nourishing, ditto for oily skins as the myth that oily skinned people cannot use oil is exactly that - a myth
*You like plant oil based cleansers
*You prefer an oil based second cleanser to get rid of the last of your makeup - this destroys everything, even stubborn mascaras and liquid lipsticks.

In short, it's nourishing, soothing, gorgeous and effective - if you haven't tried it you should!

Thanks for reading!

CloudCloth® - Sustainable, Recyclable Beauty

Hi Everyone! Let's talk cleansing cloths. In my book, cleansing cloths and flannels are a must-have. I know that a lot of people prefer to splash off their cleansers, I have tried this but for me cleansing revolves around a flannel, AM and PM. Aswell as ensuring that your skin is free of residual cleanser before you start into your routine, you can use your flannel to give your skin a light exfoliation - I would recommend using cotton for this, to be as gentle to your skin as possible These were kindly sent to me for review by CloudCloth®, and I've been using them for the last few weeks so I feel like I'm ready to give you my thoughts. Let me first give you some information about the company. CloudCloth® is based in the UK and was set up in 2017, in Manchester. Their ethos revolves around encouraging people to switch to reuseable and recyclable cleansing tools. From the site 'As a Brand, we want to give something back. We are supportive of our community of c...

Alpha H Daily Essential Vitamin Mist

I love a good mist. I'm obsessed with anything skincare-related in mist form, especially toners and my @klytiaparis Voile Lacte Moisturiser (reviewed here ). So I was seriously excited to try Alpha H's mist offering, I'm now on my second bottle so can tell you my thoughts! If you don't know of Alpha H you should - and here is a quick run-down. It's an Australian skincare brand founded by Michelle Doherty and has been around for over two decades. Their star product is undoubtedly their Liquid Gold Glycolic Acid toner, which I am a huge fan of and have been using for over a year with stellar results - if you are dry/dehydrated and have issues with texture or redness this could be a skin saver for you. Everyone needs an acid toner in their life and this is by far my favourite (I've tried Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner reviewed here and Pixi's Glow Tonic which, quite honestly, did nothing for me). Back to the mist! The packaging is quinte...

Cien Q10 Nightcream - reviewed by a skincare snob

Cien Q10 Night Cream  Cien is the beauty brand sold by budget supermarket Lidl. Over the last few years I've seen increasing amounts of people in the UK and Ireland raving about their products, from the moisturisers to the cleansers and hair products. I was suspicious of this raving as I felt that a lot of this was either bandwagoning after a few bloggers had said they liked the products, or really just based on the incredibly low price point - I love a bargain as much as anyone else, but I'm not going to convince myself I love a product because it's cheap and purse-friendly. My only prior experience with the brand was a body moisturiser which was quite honestly rubbish and not in the least moisturising as well as smelling extremely cheap, their conditioner which I love and still buy and their micellar water - which I dislike because I'm not a huge fan of them in general, and it stung my eyes and dried out my skin. I do however love the packaging - it's one of thos...
