Soap § Glory Face Soap and Clarity 3-in-1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash/L'Oreal Fine Flowers Cleansing Cream

OK, so unplanned morning post on this cleanser I received for Christmas.
I had packed this away for use after the move but broke it out a couple of days ago as I wanted a lighter gel-type cleanser for mornings.

The bottle proudly proclaims that 'this isn't a soap!' but honestly...it may as well be.
So.
The texture is nice in theory - gel-like with small microbeads. I have no idea what's in the microbeads, but they are tough. As in they don't burst when massaged into skin and when I've taken some in my hand I've had to crack one open with a nail. The smell is...soap. It literally smells like handsoap, the cheap kind you get in public bathrooms. You get 350ml of product, which is a lot - I would love if I could get this much of my favourite cleansers every time. I do like the packaging - its's a sturdy bottle with a pop open lid which allows you to get out as much product as you need without getting your hands in it. Typical of S§G, it's pretty and functional, so there's a positive.

I've used this product only a hand-full of times on my face. The first time was in the evening and I used it as a second cleanse, then went straight in with a hydrating toner and sheetmask, which is probably why I didn't realize how much I disliked it, and the feeling it gave my skin. The second was on a morning and I went straight in with Weleda Skinfood and an oil as it was a Saturday and I was feeling parched.

Yesterday morning I was in a hell of a rush and took it into the shower with me - I know, cleasing in the shower isn't the done thing! But I had ten minutes before my daughter woke up and needed to be decent for the school run. Typically she was awake just as I was getting out so instead of going straight into my skincare routine I went to fix her some breakfast. By the time I was done, less than ten minutes later, my skin was feeling stretched, tight and dry. You also get a cooling sensation, which I'm not generally against, but in this I really didn't like. Having used my usual acid and moisturiser the night before, and only this cleanser that morning, I knew what it was.

I'm a dehydrated/dry-skinned gal but it's been a long time since I've used a cleanser that made my skin feel this parched. Even ones like Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip which are supposed to clear out pores, or clay masks. 8 hours after I'd used it and even with moisturising and make-up, my face felt tight, uncomfortable and just not itself. Even foaming, SLS heavy cleansers like Superfacialists Firming Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser don't have a patch on this.

I really dislike this cleanser, guys. Sorry S§G, I love you but this is just awful and I couldn't recommend it to anyone. I have used and loved quite a few of your products in the past and hope to again in the future (I still have lots from the Spa of Wonder Christmas set to review) but it's a hard no from me on this cleanser. It says it's not soap, but if given the choice I'd take a bar of soap for my face rather than put this anywhere near it again...!

But, I'm not one to just throw products away - I have neither the means or inclination and generally find a way to make them work. Bronzers can be used as eyeshadows/blushes, liquid lipsticks as eyeshadows/liners and setting mists to spray brushes. And this is actually a really nice shower gel! I used it this morning and its refreshing and gives you a little bit of exfoliation thanks to those microbeads. It doesn't make my body feel dry and stretched, and I quite like it. For the sake of my face I went out yesterday and bought L'Oreals Fine Flowers Cleansing Cream, which is much better. I've seen good and bad reviews of this but I find it to be gentle and effective. It's not a heavy cream and destroys make-up, leaving your skin feeling soft and clean. I used it last night and this morning and my skin is relieved...! It's about €5 in France and I think less than a tenner in Ireland and the UK - if you're looking for a basic, effective and affordable cleansing cream (and these cold times are when you want to switch out your cleansing oils/balms for creams/milks to keep your skin hydrated) give it a go.

So there you have it. Damn, I'm disappointed😒 I really wanted to love this cleanser, it's such cute packaging and I love the sheer size of it, I mean who wouldn't?! Was also looking forward to having a nice, refreshing morning cleanser but this time it just wasn't to be.

If you want to try this on your face (although I don't recommend you do...!) or as a shower gel (I do recommend that!) you can find it in Boots for around €11.

Obviously if you love this cleanser, carry on! This is my opinion and experience of it, and based on those I won't tell you that it's a worthwhile skincare buy.

Have you used this?
TGIF!
A x

CloudCloth® - Sustainable, Recyclable Beauty

Hi Everyone! Let's talk cleansing cloths. In my book, cleansing cloths and flannels are a must-have. I know that a lot of people prefer to splash off their cleansers, I have tried this but for me cleansing revolves around a flannel, AM and PM. Aswell as ensuring that your skin is free of residual cleanser before you start into your routine, you can use your flannel to give your skin a light exfoliation - I would recommend using cotton for this, to be as gentle to your skin as possible These were kindly sent to me for review by CloudCloth®, and I've been using them for the last few weeks so I feel like I'm ready to give you my thoughts. Let me first give you some information about the company. CloudCloth® is based in the UK and was set up in 2017, in Manchester. Their ethos revolves around encouraging people to switch to reuseable and recyclable cleansing tools. From the site 'As a Brand, we want to give something back. We are supportive of our community of c

Alpha H Daily Essential Vitamin Mist

I love a good mist. I'm obsessed with anything skincare-related in mist form, especially toners and my @klytiaparis Voile Lacte Moisturiser (reviewed here ). So I was seriously excited to try Alpha H's mist offering, I'm now on my second bottle so can tell you my thoughts! If you don't know of Alpha H you should - and here is a quick run-down. It's an Australian skincare brand founded by Michelle Doherty and has been around for over two decades. Their star product is undoubtedly their Liquid Gold Glycolic Acid toner, which I am a huge fan of and have been using for over a year with stellar results - if you are dry/dehydrated and have issues with texture or redness this could be a skin saver for you. Everyone needs an acid toner in their life and this is by far my favourite (I've tried Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner reviewed here and Pixi's Glow Tonic which, quite honestly, did nothing for me). Back to the mist! The packaging is quinte

Ciara Daly - My Hero Brush Review

If you read this blog, or follow me on IG or Twitter you know that skin is my thing. From skincare to base products, for me how my skin looks is the most important. If I had to choose between amazing eye make-up, gorgeous glossy lips, IG worthy brows or a perfect base I'm picking the latter. When it comes to make-up I prefer a natural, light to medium luminous base. I'm not a huge fan of matte foundations, never have been. I don't like to look like I'm wearing tonnes of base make-up although obviously for a night out or an event I would go for a fuller base. I've tried the @hudabeauty Faux Filter and love it - it's full coverage with a natural, slightly luminous finish and is on my to buy list. But for every day I usually go for for something like my beloved Ponds BB Cream (which I have to get sent to me from abroad as it isn't available in Europe😠) either on it's own or mixed with something like Max Factor Lasting Performance or Vichy Teint Ideal to
