This was definitely an unexpected find, and a good one!
I ordered this from Beauteprivee.fr a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't planned on ordering a new moisturizer as I have a couple to finish, but I saw it as part of an offer with Indie Lee's Rosehip Cleanser for €24.90 so I succumbed.
A quick note on Beauteprivee - if you're a beauty-lover in France, you need to be subscribed to this website. It costs nothing to join, and once you're in you get some pretty great offers. Their clearance section (braderie) is one of my favourite places to browse on the internet. L'Oreal nail polishes for €1.50, Maybelline lipsticks €3.50, Sampar products for under a tenner. They also have a section where you can book a couple of hours in a spa/hair appointment/facial at certain institutes for a discounted price. The shipping is 5 or 6 euros with Chronopost but there is a great option of paying a lump-sum of €19 and getting free shipping for 12 months. I've had my hair done through this site at a salon in Paris for €35 instead of €70 (the colour was good, cut was a disaster but that's hardly Beaute Privee's fault, I should have researched the salon...!) and definitely plan to book myself a spa treatment through the site in the future - they sometimes have offers for the Anne Semonin spa in Paris that I have my eye on. This, however, was my first time buying products from them and I am extremely impressed - both products arrived well-packaged and in perfect condition, and they arrived 2 days after I ordered them.
Onwards and upwards - I will review the Indie Lee cleanser in the future as I haven't opened it yet, but I cracked and started using the Klytia Paris moisturizer because I am weak and spineless when it comes to products😅
When I ordered this I had never heard of the product and the brand - honestly I only got it because it was such a great deal with the cleanser and I had no expectations.
On receiving it I was instantly intrigued by the fact that it comes in a spray pump - this is pretty unusual for a moisturizer. I am utterly addicted to anything that comes in spray form (I firmly believe that all non-acid toners should be spray on!) so I had to try it.
The packaging is quite lovely and feels quite luxe. It comes in a frosted glass bottle with a spray nozzle and sturdy lid - I despise flimsy plastic lids that crack after a couple of uses. It has a nice weight to it and the frosted finish has a gold sparkle.
From the product description:
'A liquid moisturizer with vitamins that provides immediate refreshment in one, simple morning gesture. The ultra-fine emulsion makes Voile Lacte Vitamine a perfect moisturizer with excellent skin compatibility that, above all, does not leave the skin sticky. Silk essentials are rich in proteins and are highly compatible with the skin. They settle in a soft, thin layer that enhances their immediate absorption. This product is perfectly suited for normal skin'
Among the ingredients I can see hydrolized silk, jojoba seed oil, glycerin, and perfume - nothing scary.
Now. I was going to go on an extended monologue about hydrolized silk, and how some scientists say it's not as moisturizing as it claims to be and that it's just another 'sexy' skincare ingredient but I've been thinking about the type of blogging I want to do and I've come to the conclusion that everyone has Google at their fingertips, and the skincare experts and bloggers that can be found on it, you can ask pretty much anyone a question on Twitter and so I'm not going to be lecturing people about ingredients. Obviously I want to keep talking about key skincare ingredients (I have a post planned on Vitamin C, for instance) but I am no expert myself and so unless there's something particularly nefarious in an ingredients list, I'll tell you what's in it, give you my opinion and let you decide whether it's something you would invest in. You don't have to justify your choices in anything to anyone, and obviously that applies to skincare - you do you, if it makes you happy that's the goal.
That said, I like products with silk in them. I like shampoos and conditioners with silk extracts, my adored Liquid Gold contains silk, and this quite lovely moisturizer contains silk. It is said to hydrate and protect by some, to do not much of anything by others.
So, once you take off the aforementioned sturdy cap you have a spray nozzle which dispenses the product - I find that two pumps is enough for my face and neck. It has a very light, watery consistancy and reminds me strongly of Korean essences and emulsions which tend to be less heavy than your traditional moisturizers - people with oily or normal skin will probably enjoy this, it sinks in quickly and true to the description isn't greasy as all. For this reason I've been using this in the mornings as opposed to at night when I prefer a heavier oil or treatment, if you're dry you would need more moisture than this offers, at least at night.
BUT.
This doubles as a gorgeous primer. I'm not sure how I feel generally about primers, I've tried a few (Benefit PoreFessional, Maybelline BabySkin, The Ordinary, Emma Hardie) and I just don't find them to be the miracle product some people make them out to be. When I use a primer all I expect at this stage is for it to create a nice base for me to apply make-up to, and to make my make-up look smooth and well-applied. I don't expect a primer to keep my make-up flawless for 12 hours, I just don't. And this moisturizer certainly creates a lovely, moisturized base for foundation. I'm also enjoying the fact that it feels hydrating, refreshing, but not greasy.
The scent is mild, and there's something in it that I can't pin down - at first I thought it was like tumeric - I can't describe it but it's pleasant.
Price-wise, it's not cheap. I got mine for an absolute bargain, but on the website it retails for €49, which is pretty pricey for a moisturizer. Do I think it's worth it? I hate to say, I do...I'm not the kind of person that lays down fifty quid for a moisturizer, but this just looks, feels and smells gorgeous and performes extremely well. Despite the light texture I don't at all feel dehydrated after a couple of weeks of using it - although I do load my skin with hyaluronic acid twice a day and a heavier cream at night.
I've had this and been using this for two weeks. It's not that long, but I know my skin and I've binned moisturizers for being sub-par in less time! Simply put, if you're looking for a beautifully luxe, lightly scented moisturizer that is very light in consistency and doubles as a gorgeous base for make-up, I highly recommend this one. I'm happy to have discovered this brand and will definitely be looking into more of their products!
Voile Lacte Facial Moisturizer is available on their website here, and occasionally on Beauteprivee.
Have a great day everyone!
