I am SO late to the party with Deciem, notably The Ordinary, their drugstore-priced skincare range that just about offers something for everyone. This range is a seriously pocket-friendly option for those who want specifically targeted skincare, and the products boast high performance ingredients such as AHAs, caffine, niaminicide and hyaluronic acid. My only previous experience with TO was their Retinol 1%, which if you read my review here you know was a fail. I put off ordering anything else because everything I wanted was ALWAYS sold out, so when I saw the Hydrating Collection on QVC France for €34, I went for it - I got the lot for €19 thanks to a voucher I'd forgotten I had.
I was most excited for two products - the AHA Peel and the Hyaluronic Acid.
HA and I met a couple of years ago and have been going strong ever since. I've tried quite a few HA products in different forms and have found that for the best results, it's best in serum form. The best high-end option I've tried is SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier, and the best affordable option L'Oreals Aloe Water, but that's all changed with the arrival of TO in my bathroom.

The packaging is great - no negatives. It's simple and chic, reminiscent of medical packaging which I suppose makes you feel like you're using 'real' skincare as opposed to perfumed nonsense - and you are. The product is dispensed by dropper - great because you can adjust the amount and not waste any.
There are two things I look for in a hyaluronic acid serum - tackiness and tightness. Sounds odd, as in most products they would be negatives, but in a good HA it means that it's doing what it should do!
The consistency is a watery, slightly sticky serum - I find that about half a dropper is enough for my face, a full dropper if I'm bringing it down my neck and chest. After application you feel that tackiness - a sign of a good HA. You also feel a slight tightness once it has sunken in - this is a negative in soapy, SLS cleansers but again, a good thing in a HA - totally normal!
I've been using this morning and night except for Sunday nights when I generally use my Liquid Gold alone. I apply after cleanser and toner, before moisturisers. As I mentioned in my previous HA post, it's not an ingredient that will give you instant overnight results, but in the last month I've definitely noticed a subtle but lovely improvement in my skin - it's soft, bright and moisturised. I am using a mixture of good products from different brands at the moment, but this serum has definitely become a well-loved favourite. I love the feeling of hydration, the consistency and the lovely sticky base it gives for other products.
Thumbs up, love it, will buy again💓
You can find The Ordinary HA on Cult Beauty for £5.90, on theordinary.com and Cloud10Beauty for €6.80. If you are in France, get the Hydration Set here for €34.
I have four more pieces from the set to review, let me know what you've tried and what you think!
