The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% - a go to for tired or hungover skin!

How I do love a good acid. Glycolic, which is an AHA and best suited to my dry skin is my favourite, but I do like to add some salicylic, which is a BHA, to the mix if my skin is breaking-out.
My favourite glycolic acid product is Alpha H Liquid Gold, which is a toner than I use every other night to keep my skin smooth and bright - such is the magical nature of glycolic.
But what do you do when you wake up with tired, dull skin after a night of festivities?
Enter The Ordinarys AHA BHA Peeling Solution.

Like most of their liquid/oil products this comes in a small glass bottle, boasting a frosted finish like their HA which I love and reviewed here. It also has that same glass pipette, allowing you to customise the amount of product you use without waste.
The product itself is dark red, which gives you the look of Kim Kardashian doing a 'Vampire Facial' while you have it on your face, and in my experience does a stellar job of scaring the bejeesus out of any kids or unfortunate builders that happen to catch a glimpse of you😂

I would do anything for good skin, but I won't do that

This is probably a clever way to make sure that you remove the product completely - an acid is not something you want to leave on your skin all day.
It says 10 minutes on the bottle and instructions, but this really depends on you. If you are a regular acid user like me you will probably get away with 15 mins, if you are new to acids I would judge it by how your skin feels and even remove after 5 minutes the first time just to see if you react - honestly, if you haven't used any acids before I wouldn't recommend this, just in case.
It's a thin but viscous texture. I recommend using the dropper to drop it all over the face and then quickly patting it over your skin evenly before washing your hands and leaving it alone to do it's magic.

I get a mild stinging sensation that quickly goes away after a couple of minutes, but this really depends on your skin type and whether you regularly use acids. Rule of thumb when it comes to acids is that if it stings it's doing what it's supposed to, if that stinging turns into a burning sensation get it off your face ASAP, you may be having a reaction. As with all active products, it's important to do a small patch test first on your neck or chin just to be sure.
The effects of this are the reason why it's become the newest member of my 'Skincare Hangover Kit'. If you don't have one of these, I highly recommend putting one together. Mine consists of Emma Hardie Moringa Balm to cleanse, then I add another layer that I leave on for up to 20 minutes to plump and soften. Then, if I have time, I go in with a sheet mask for moisture, and follow up with either a rich moisturiser like Weleda Skinfood or a facial oil. At the end, my skin looks bright, hydrated and awake even if the rest of me is a walking corpse...! I now use this straight after Moringa Balm, leave on for up to 15 minutes and continue on with a mask. It immediately brightens and smooths skin, and gives you the face (if not the feeling) of someone who has had a full nights sleep, and what more can you ask for if you've fallen into bed well after midnight and a rake of wine?! The AHA in the formula will exfoliate and brighten the upper layers of your skin while the BHA will penetrate deeper and exfoliate the deeper layer. These two together are the dream team for those days when your skin just needs a kick-start.
So, to recap, you need this if:

*You are already an acid user (preferably an AHA like lactic or glycolic as AHAs are the main active)
*You drink alcohol
*Your skin doesn't like when you drink alcohol
*You want something that will function like jump-leads for your skin

I got mine in a set from QVC France - it always seems to be out of stock on many of the beauty websites. You can also find it here on Deciems own website for the absolute bargain price of €7.20 for 30ml, which in many places isn't even the price of a decent bottle of wine😂

As with all acids, bear in mind that it will make you extra sensitive to the sun and more susceptible to sun damage so make sure that you have a good facial SPF on hand, ideally factor 30 or above.

Have you tried this? Will you be picking it up?
Thanks for reading as always

A x

CloudCloth® - Sustainable, Recyclable Beauty

Hi Everyone! Let's talk cleansing cloths. In my book, cleansing cloths and flannels are a must-have. I know that a lot of people prefer to splash off their cleansers, I have tried this but for me cleansing revolves around a flannel, AM and PM. Aswell as ensuring that your skin is free of residual cleanser before you start into your routine, you can use your flannel to give your skin a light exfoliation - I would recommend using cotton for this, to be as gentle to your skin as possible These were kindly sent to me for review by CloudCloth®, and I've been using them for the last few weeks so I feel like I'm ready to give you my thoughts. Let me first give you some information about the company. CloudCloth® is based in the UK and was set up in 2017, in Manchester. Their ethos revolves around encouraging people to switch to reuseable and recyclable cleansing tools. From the site 'As a Brand, we want to give something back. We are supportive of our community of c...

Alpha H Daily Essential Vitamin Mist

I love a good mist. I'm obsessed with anything skincare-related in mist form, especially toners and my @klytiaparis Voile Lacte Moisturiser (reviewed here ). So I was seriously excited to try Alpha H's mist offering, I'm now on my second bottle so can tell you my thoughts! If you don't know of Alpha H you should - and here is a quick run-down. It's an Australian skincare brand founded by Michelle Doherty and has been around for over two decades. Their star product is undoubtedly their Liquid Gold Glycolic Acid toner, which I am a huge fan of and have been using for over a year with stellar results - if you are dry/dehydrated and have issues with texture or redness this could be a skin saver for you. Everyone needs an acid toner in their life and this is by far my favourite (I've tried Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner reviewed here and Pixi's Glow Tonic which, quite honestly, did nothing for me). Back to the mist! The packaging is quinte...

New CID Cosmetics i-glow Shimmer Powders in Coral Crush and Sirocco

If you watch my Instagram stories you know that I originally ordered Coral Crush after I had seen Caroline Hirons say how much she loved it on her stories. After having Coral Crush for a few weeks I picked up another I-glow in Sirocco, the brush that is designed for use with them and a cream eyeshadow. In this post I'll review the two I-glows. On the  New CID Cosmetics website the I-glows are described as ' an innovative and luxurious formula of  baked pigments...to bring a radiance to the skin for a lit from within look ' Coral Crush Described as a ' luminous peachy coral blush with soft gold sparkle suitable for all skin types '. This is a really stunning product, both visually and on the skin. It comes housed in a sturdy white compact with an inside mirror. Although the compact is really pretty and chic, white probably isn't the best colour for it - mine is already covered in fingerprints...! Not a huge issue, but I'm a bit of a neat freak when it...
