Younique Moonstruck Epic Mascara

*Dislamimer - I did not buy this mascara, my cousin recently started as a Younique rep and added me to her closed group. She ran a competition on who had the best make-up disaster story and the winner was decided by a vote. I won with my story of the L'Oreal 24hr Matte Foundation unexpectedly turning orange on me while out shopping, in all fairness it was a bona fida #makeupdisaster😂

So first off - packaging. Sleek, tapered, black. No issues. The opening is big enough to allow product to stay on the brush but tight enough to ensure that most of it is scraped off as the brush exits, so that unlike some mascaras (looking at you, YSL The Shock) you don't get excess product and the clumping that comes with it.

At first I was apprehensive. The brush itself is smaller than what I personally go for - my absolute favourite mascara ever is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, and if you've used it you know the brush is a big one. Too big and your lashes get clumped together, and too small, well...Same. Personally I find that I get the best definition and lift with a bigger brush so when I shop for mascara I generally make a choice based on brush size. In the past smaller brushes have left my lashes stuck together, so it's just based off my experience.

The formula is thicker than some mascaras I own, the Kiko Luxurious Lashes for example, but I like it. The scent isn't overpowering, but it's there and hard to describe - I get coffee and chocolate, but scents don't generally bother me unless they are sickly and over-powering which this isn't and I actually quite like it.

Compared to Kiko Luxurious Lashes Mascara

Performance-wise, I'd be lying if I said I didn't really like this mascara. More so than my trusty Luxurious Lashes - the formula is thicker and it just holds the curl longer. It's also good for lower lashes and whereas bigger brushes can fail in that respect, this is a good size. I know that brands like Pixie do bottom lash mascaras, but honestly I can't be bothered. It takes me long enough as it is to get ready in the morning, let's not add unnecessary steps (or costs!)😂I can't say that it's the mascara to end all mascaras as I haven't yet found anything that quite beats TF BTS (I don't buy it anymore as I can't stand the former owner/current creative director) but I'm really happy to have this in my collection. I have pretty short, stubby lashes and though I'm most comfortable in false lashes I can't be bothered to wear them every day so I'm always on the hunt for a mascara that will give me a lift, curl and some volume. Which is apparently a lot to ask as so many mascaras have failed me so badly. After my YSL disaster which I discussed here, I went out and bought a cheap mascara as I couldn't stomach spending another 30 quid on something with the ability to disappoint me so much😂

Epic Moonstruck Mascara

Epic Moonstruck Mascara

I had my doubts about Younique when it started up, although it was more to do with the presenters than the products as I have never tried them. I found my IG flooded with all these girls who wanted to ingratiate themselves to me by liking my posts but in reality all they wanted was to sell me their product - and let me be clear here - I have NO issue with people making money, none at all, but I do have an issue with the beauty community being reduced to a mini market where all people want to do is sell and all love of the products and beauty itself is lost. However, having watched some of my cousins videos - she does lives on FaceBook and is utterly hilarious, she's quite new to the make-up world and her enthusiasm and ability to laugh at herself and her mistakes is something I love - I have to admit that I'm intrigued to see more Younique products. I can't honestly say that if it wasn't for Nicola getting into Younique I would've gone out and bought any of their products, but I have to admit to being impressed. Do I see myself buying a whole line? Honestly no. They aren't the cheapest products on the market and I'm a bit of a bore in that I'm loyal to my favourite brands like Clarins and Huda Beauty, but I definitely wouldn't rule out picking up a few more bits. I do love trying new things and new brands but I'm not made of money, if I was I'd buy everything just for review purposes😂 I know this review at a glance might seem like nepotism of the like we haven't seen since Bertie was running Ireland but as usual I've been honest. This is in no way a plea for you to buy from a family member, it's an honest review of a product that I myself was pleasantly surprised by.
If you're looking for a mascara and you're interested in trying Younique, this one gets the thumbs up from me!

Find Nicola on IG here and on FaceBook here - if you have no interest in buying I still recommend her FaceBook, she does regular lives and she is HILARIOUS - keep your eyes peeled for my aunt telling her to stop swearing every ten minutes😂😂 She's also great to watch if you're just starting out in make-up, she tries new things, invites help from the live stream comments and is just a massive laugh!

CloudCloth® - Sustainable, Recyclable Beauty

Hi Everyone! Let's talk cleansing cloths. In my book, cleansing cloths and flannels are a must-have. I know that a lot of people prefer to splash off their cleansers, I have tried this but for me cleansing revolves around a flannel, AM and PM. Aswell as ensuring that your skin is free of residual cleanser before you start into your routine, you can use your flannel to give your skin a light exfoliation - I would recommend using cotton for this, to be as gentle to your skin as possible These were kindly sent to me for review by CloudCloth®, and I've been using them for the last few weeks so I feel like I'm ready to give you my thoughts. Let me first give you some information about the company. CloudCloth® is based in the UK and was set up in 2017, in Manchester. Their ethos revolves around encouraging people to switch to reuseable and recyclable cleansing tools. From the site 'As a Brand, we want to give something back. We are supportive of our community of c...

Alpha H Daily Essential Vitamin Mist

I love a good mist. I'm obsessed with anything skincare-related in mist form, especially toners and my @klytiaparis Voile Lacte Moisturiser (reviewed here ). So I was seriously excited to try Alpha H's mist offering, I'm now on my second bottle so can tell you my thoughts! If you don't know of Alpha H you should - and here is a quick run-down. It's an Australian skincare brand founded by Michelle Doherty and has been around for over two decades. Their star product is undoubtedly their Liquid Gold Glycolic Acid toner, which I am a huge fan of and have been using for over a year with stellar results - if you are dry/dehydrated and have issues with texture or redness this could be a skin saver for you. Everyone needs an acid toner in their life and this is by far my favourite (I've tried Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner reviewed here and Pixi's Glow Tonic which, quite honestly, did nothing for me). Back to the mist! The packaging is quinte...

New CID Cosmetics i-glow Shimmer Powders in Coral Crush and Sirocco

If you watch my Instagram stories you know that I originally ordered Coral Crush after I had seen Caroline Hirons say how much she loved it on her stories. After having Coral Crush for a few weeks I picked up another I-glow in Sirocco, the brush that is designed for use with them and a cream eyeshadow. In this post I'll review the two I-glows. On the  New CID Cosmetics website the I-glows are described as ' an innovative and luxurious formula of  baked pigments...to bring a radiance to the skin for a lit from within look ' Coral Crush Described as a ' luminous peachy coral blush with soft gold sparkle suitable for all skin types '. This is a really stunning product, both visually and on the skin. It comes housed in a sturdy white compact with an inside mirror. Although the compact is really pretty and chic, white probably isn't the best colour for it - mine is already covered in fingerprints...! Not a huge issue, but I'm a bit of a neat freak when it...
