Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil - an 'After' Review

I have a confession to make - before I bought this oil back in March I wasn't regularly using a facial oil. It wasn't that I didn't like them, it was more that I didn't think I needed one - I was using Kiehl's Overnight Hydrating Mask as an overnight treatment and didn't think anything else was necessary. Let's just say I've now changed my tune.

The EH addiction is real😅

Emma Hardie first came to my attention through Caroline Hirons when she raved about the now cult product Moringa Cleansing Balm back in , I believe, 2015. My mom bought me one for Christmas and I haven't looked back since - I'm on my 3rd jar of this incredible balm cleanser and see it being in my cleanser arsenal forever. I have reviewed it in my post on my favourite cleansers here.

So in love was I with this cleanser that I knew I had to try more from this brand. I went onto FeelUnique France and ordered a new Moringa Balm as I was running out and panicking about it, Brilliance Facial oil and as a free gift received a mini Moringa Balm, mini oil and mini Protect and Prime Face Cream which I also love and reviewed in a post on my 2017 Summer Saviours here.

From the Emma Hardie UK site:

Brilliance Facial Oil is a light-weight, multi-active everyday facial oil complex, containing 9 essential oils of Palma Rose, Orange, Mint, Vanilla, Geranium, Camomile, Lemon, Rose and Lavender that help to condition, hydrate and smooth the skin's texture.

Also includes 5 plant oils, Grape Seed Oil, Apricot, Almond, Olive Oil and Sunflower Oil that contain Omega 3,  to help restructure the skin and promote elasticity and moisturise. Also including the
unique Camelina 'Gold of Pleasure' oil for its powerful anti-oxidant properties to protect the skin from free radicals.

Key Ingredients

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Limonene, Geraniol, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citronellol, Linalool, Bht, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citral, Farnesol.

This is a really, really lovely facial oil.

I received it on the 9th of March 2017 and am now down to the last few drops, I may get two more uses out of it, so it's lasted me 7 months even though I've been using it almost every night. You don't need much, 3 or 4 drops is enough.

As you can see from the ingredients it contains a host of gorgeous natural oils. It smells divine, and is of a lighter consistency than some oils, Clarins for example which is a heavier oil. I like this about the product as I prefer the feel of a lighter oil that is easily soaked up by the skin - I am not discounting using Clarins oils in the future, especially in the winter when my skin tends to be drier and more dehydrated than during summer, but for March through to October Brilliance Oil was exactly what I needed. It isn't greasy, five or ten minutes after application I find that it has sunken into my skin so I don't go to bed with an oily face. It's incredibly moisturising and I always feel like my skin is brighter and smoother the morning after. I generally used it as a night treatment but have also used it occasionally in the morning (less than I would at night, only one or two small drops) if I was feeling dry or dehydrated and found that if I waited about 15 minutes after application it didn't interfere with my foundation. I've used it mixed in with foundation to give a sheerer finish and a glow and also on my lips before applying liquid lipsticks - many oils are unsuitable for use this way as they are too heavy. It also works a treat as a hangover skin cure - once or twice during the summer I woke up with grey, haggard, dehydrated skin after a night on the wine and using a sheetmask followed by a generous amount of this massaged into my skin made me look, if not feel, alive. It has featured in numerous of my #skincareroutine posts on IG so it's obvious how much I love this product. I've especially enjoyed using it at night mixed with a bit of the EH Age Support Mask, which I don't find does much when used as recommended as a 20 minute mask but when mixed with the oil as an overnight skin treat gives you bright, soft, glowing skin in the morning - is there any more you can ask for?!

This is the first in a series of reviews that I will be doing on products that I've had for ages - I sometimes find that reviewing a product when you have come to the end of it is really the most honest review you can give because it's at that point when you really decide whether or not you will repurchase it.
Would I buy this again? Absolutely. Apart from the fact that I really love it as a product, there is something so lovely and calming about the smell of Emma Hardie products, and there is nothing better than treating myself to a Moringa Balm cleanse and a few drops of this after a long day. It may not be one that I repurchase straight away as I am looking for a way to get into retinols, and after my fail with The Ordinary Retinol 1% which I talked about here I read a couple of Reviews on the Pai Rosehip Oil and may give that a try next as it contains Vitamin A. That said I'm positive that this gorgeous little oil will find itself on my bathroom shelf again in the not too distant future.
Brilliance Oil costs €44.50 on FeelUnique France and is available in Marks and Spencers and on her UK based website.

What face oils are you using at the moment?
Have a great end of weeke everyone!

CloudCloth® - Sustainable, Recyclable Beauty

Hi Everyone! Let's talk cleansing cloths. In my book, cleansing cloths and flannels are a must-have. I know that a lot of people prefer to splash off their cleansers, I have tried this but for me cleansing revolves around a flannel, AM and PM. Aswell as ensuring that your skin is free of residual cleanser before you start into your routine, you can use your flannel to give your skin a light exfoliation - I would recommend using cotton for this, to be as gentle to your skin as possible These were kindly sent to me for review by CloudCloth®, and I've been using them for the last few weeks so I feel like I'm ready to give you my thoughts. Let me first give you some information about the company. CloudCloth® is based in the UK and was set up in 2017, in Manchester. Their ethos revolves around encouraging people to switch to reuseable and recyclable cleansing tools. From the site 'As a Brand, we want to give something back. We are supportive of our community of c

Alpha H Daily Essential Vitamin Mist

I love a good mist. I'm obsessed with anything skincare-related in mist form, especially toners and my @klytiaparis Voile Lacte Moisturiser (reviewed here ). So I was seriously excited to try Alpha H's mist offering, I'm now on my second bottle so can tell you my thoughts! If you don't know of Alpha H you should - and here is a quick run-down. It's an Australian skincare brand founded by Michelle Doherty and has been around for over two decades. Their star product is undoubtedly their Liquid Gold Glycolic Acid toner, which I am a huge fan of and have been using for over a year with stellar results - if you are dry/dehydrated and have issues with texture or redness this could be a skin saver for you. Everyone needs an acid toner in their life and this is by far my favourite (I've tried Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner reviewed here and Pixi's Glow Tonic which, quite honestly, did nothing for me). Back to the mist! The packaging is quinte

Ciara Daly - My Hero Brush Review

If you read this blog, or follow me on IG or Twitter you know that skin is my thing. From skincare to base products, for me how my skin looks is the most important. If I had to choose between amazing eye make-up, gorgeous glossy lips, IG worthy brows or a perfect base I'm picking the latter. When it comes to make-up I prefer a natural, light to medium luminous base. I'm not a huge fan of matte foundations, never have been. I don't like to look like I'm wearing tonnes of base make-up although obviously for a night out or an event I would go for a fuller base. I've tried the @hudabeauty Faux Filter and love it - it's full coverage with a natural, slightly luminous finish and is on my to buy list. But for every day I usually go for for something like my beloved Ponds BB Cream (which I have to get sent to me from abroad as it isn't available in Europe😠) either on it's own or mixed with something like Max Factor Lasting Performance or Vichy Teint Ideal to
